Top Level Executive
Worldwide Top Executive Coaching is a sub-section of VIP and involves working with High End Executive Level Clients. These very important people are at the top of their game and their field, not to mention occupying super significant positions within their company / organisation.
These individuals are not immune to issues that effect their Life as a result of their position…
One MAJOR issue High End Executives face is a work / home Life balance. Or a lack thereof, this is a problem Emotionally and for their personal Relationships. High End Executives need help to ensure a Successful work / home life balance that creates synergy and harmony, not conflict.
Health is another context that will usually be comprised and must be addressed.
My role as a Coach is to step in and create an effective solution that encompasses all the components of their Life in to a synergistic / not conflicting / harmonious ‘Whole’.
In addition, my role is to ensure, enhance and nurture their Peak Performance and productivity, whilst tackling their problems, absorbing the stresses and pressures the Executive must endure in their highly demanding position. To also counteract the isolation their position may entail and to enhance their presence within the organisation they are the CEO or President of.
Top Level Executives and Presidents incur a lot of business meeting hours and subsequently need extra support with their physical body and nutrition.
Sitting down a lot is not conducive to peak levels of Health! Relaxation also needs to be provided and managed to balance out the negatives, otherwise the crucial balance between that aforementioned peak performance – and a crash – disappears.
Peak performance is defined mathematically as the individual working as close to maximum as possible, without, burning out. This has to be managed, otherwise!
Akin to a car engine that is at its very maximum revolutions on the tachometer in the instrument panel, you can stay close to this ‘red’ area but just a little too much and wham bam engine blow! In less demanding jobs the stress level can be far from the red, but for Executives and especially Top Level Executives and Presidents, the stress and demands are bordering the red on the revolutions counter, Constantly.
Remember the higher up you are or go, the higher the demands are and thus, the higher ( to ensure balance ) the rest, relaxation, recuperation, regeneration and requirements are too, to allow for that peak – performance I was eluding to earlier.
Worldwide Executives usually have a significant role in a major organisation. Top C level Executives, Presidents or Vice Presidents of a company have an even more significant role.
Their position, by nature, will usually be a well-paid, well respected, place of authority and sought after position within the Company to the outside world.
On the inside however the position can be crammed full of stress, pressure, time limits, daily multiple problems, isolation, loneliness, conflicts with personal / home life, long hours, sometimes health implications and emotional drain. Clearly a lot of jobs could be categorised as this but, High End Executives represent less than 1% of the business populous so their position is at the top or close to the top of the peak and so, the aforementioned negatives are that much more intensive.
High end Executives are not immune to human imperfections, the higher up in an organisation you go – the pointier the peak gets and the isolation or the loneliness only exponentially increases. With no one to bounce off or to off load on to, the stress and pressure can become counterproductive if not managed, and become dis-empowering instead, of stimulating,
All this can lead often to health issues physically and or mentally. Being unable to emotionally ‘release’ is actually a form of torture in some Countries!
A competent Professional Coach’s role is to effectively manage the executives life and support the individual in a way that few other people / if anyone, can do.
Why is This?
Some of the information this individual has is best not shared with many / if any people within their organisation which only serves to compound the isolation and pressure more. Even Managers and other Executives are not always an option for High end Executives.
If the individuals home life is not supportive of this demanding position then everything gets layered with a second set of problems. Not being able to tell their partner about their work problems is frustrating to some people. Maybe their partner does not want to hear about their problems at work, especially if the home life is already being affected.
Strain on inter-personal relationships intensifies the stress and pressure back at work. Not seeing the kids enough or at the right times is another potential issue.
Friends are not always around when needed due to their own commitments and life style, plus again some of the information the individual would want to talk about may be Company sensitive and not allowed outside the Company.
No wonder many High end Executives use the services of a Professional Coach to keep their balance and their sanity and avoid the crumble. Within some organisations this is a mandatory service to the Executive! A Life Coach can be apt at effectively supporting the Executive, just like the Executives PA manages the itinerary ( amongst other responsibilities ) for the Executive, a Life Coach manages the Executives mental, emotional and physical states.
How Do I Coach High End Executives?
By understanding several factors: the Executives personality, the Executive’s specific job role, and the aims of the Company itself that they represent.
By understanding the individual on an intimate level, by knowing their beliefs, their values, their goals, their habits, their behaviours, their personality, their needs … by entering ‘their’ world so to speak, using this as the premise, I, the Coach, can be akin to a USB back up of the original, in the human sense though, and without having all the ‘black’ or ‘negative’ internal experiences and emotional constraints the Executive would have.
I am able to Coach objectively therefore. It allows me to direct and support my client in their role, sometimes this may involve mopping up all the stress and absorbing whatever the Executive needs to off load before they go ‘home’. Other times they will have a problem that comes there way that is unexpected and is significant, while they can and will usually deal with these situations, there are moments and situations that simply overwhelm the Executive.
Naturally they need to off load, this particular stress is different to the aforementioned previous stress that is part of everyday work. A competent Coach is able to manage the ‘state’ of the Executive and guide him or her much like a sports Coach would guide the athlete before a major event to stay calm, centred, focused but still primed and ready.
Other times the Executive may wish to bounce ideas off me that are inherently important even secretive ( I am always required to sign an NDA ) and sometimes they need guidance and advice on things they can’t / wouldn’t ask their friends or even their own business colleagues. Nor anyone at home because of the sensitive nature of the businesses material.
Other responsibilities may include for example, maintaining the health and well being of the Executive through diet / nutrition and appropriate activity / exercise of the right type. Another is keeping an eye on the Executive Business schedule to ensure they are balancing the work – home life / relaxation Successfully. If I see some dis-balance, in advance, I am able to avert a potential blow out and so on.
Since I become a replica of them, but without any of the limitations or negativity, I can operate objectively back to them as if they were themselves ‘objectively’ reflecting in to the mirror but without any thing getting in the way of their own decision making skill set that their job requires from them.
As a Coach I can, and do work with them on the human and performance level, I cannot replicate the skill set they have in the business making context itself, that is their area of expertise and they have many years experience in that field, my role is the ‘human’ side.
Together this strategy works magically well.
High End Executive Coaching can be either short term of just a few hours where the client would just pay** for that and that is it. It can be medium term of days, weeks or a few months. It can also be an ongoing retainer set up each month that lasts years in some cases.
To simplify it, I classify the options in silver, gold, platinum and retainer.
£399* per hour.
Client hires me to have me Coach him or her for a fixed amount of time either once or regularly each week or month. Times are fixed in advanced. More time, more cost. Simple. Some executives book just 1 hour per month, some book 3 sessions per week, it’s all variable.
£499* per hour.
Same as silver, and in addition, I am under contract to be available 24/7/30/365:
I am at times asked to get to the Executive completely spontaneously due to a ’problem’ that is throwing the Executive off balance. Part of how I operate, the structure that I offer, is the option for an Executive to be able to call me at a moment’s notice 24/7 and, within certain limits and reasoning, I drop everything and can be at their side as quick as time logistics allow, anywhere in the World.
This is in addition to the fixed in advance hours, that particular Executive is signed up to.
£599* per hour.
Same as gold except platinum takes presidency over gold.
In the event 2 Executives request me to be with them at the same time / same day, platinum will get preference. It can and does happen, thus with this set up it allows me to remove the possible conflict, in advance.
I am able to offer a bespoke retainer set up where an Executive requests it as a long term arrangement, over many months or even years.
Retainer differs from regular hours in that usually a retainer set up happens after the Executive has received Coaching in the first instance, is happy with the results and wants to continue the Coaching in the second instance but at a lesser intensity over months or years.
I am usually asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Some companies call them Confidentiality Agreements (CA) and they are similar to the security of private information and data protection agreements I am asked to sign when seeing individuals in the VIP personal arena.
