I’m gonna start right out – by asking you if I may, a very blunt question –
ARE YOU OVERWEIGHT?
In other words – do you have excess body fat on your body right now and – it’s costing you?
What I mean by that is – every day – do you feel the burden of not feeling as confident as you could, or as sexy as you could or as happy as you could? Does feeling tired, sloberish and lethargic limit you quality of life and experience for you?
If your answer is yes, then your experience is a common one, millions of people just like you feel the same and live with the same limitations every day of their lives.
I’m here to tell you – that this pain is not something you need to continue to live with, that you CAN eradicate it – and move forwards to feel confident – to feel sexy and to feel happy – to feel & be in control of your life.
The obvious question is HOW?
In order to answer that we need to look closer into the WHY – why do you have an overweight body, why are you carrying excess body fat?
The answer is not surprising – it’s probably that you have eaten too much in the past and either – not moved very much or moved a lot but done the wrong type of activity, or some combination of the two.
However here is the surprising part – ‘Have you’ lost weight before? My hallucination is you probably have, my next question would be – have you lost weight more than once in your life and again I imagine your answer would be YES.
So my next question would be HOW then can you be carrying excess body fat and have an overweight body IF you have lost weight previously.
Answer – because you have put the weight back ON – and therein lies both our problem AND the solution at the same time.
See if you JUST lost weight and kept it off – you would have your ideal – body right now TRUE? – and you would not be listening to me waffle on about weight loss on this podcast. CORRECT?
The problem is not so much the weight loss itself – it’s mostly in the other half – KEEPING the weight OFF.
We need both but most people most of the time miss the second step, in other words they accomplish step 1, they lose the weight fully or at least partially – but instead of progressing to step 2 of now managing the situation and keeping the result, instead they reverse step 1 –metaphorically they reverse engineer their own outcome and regain the weight they just removed, sounds crazy when you point it out but that is sadly what people do…
Not because they’re stupid, it’s not a character flaw or a weakness or anything like that – it’s purely because most people HAVEN’T been educated in this area and so that simply don’t know what to do – I mean …
If you don’t know – what you don’t know – it’s not exactly your fault is it!
Successful weight loss – is measured by – you lose your excess weight AND it stays off forever. Failed weight loss is measured by you lose your excess weight AND it comes back on.
The common denominator is that weight loss happens in both situations so we know that weight loss is not the real problem, it’s the second part of the equation. It’s the maintenance of the weight loss that lets people down. Do you follow?
Remember this phrase : Weight loss is temporary. Weight management is permanent.
So which would you prefer?
Clearly – keeping the weight off permanently – is the holy grail that everyone searches for –
So HOW do we progress from just temporarily losing weight only to put it back on and feel miserable and depressed – having our hard work be in vain – to – having lasting change so that our weight loss will in fact last through time and be permanent and we truly get to FEEL the happiness and high self-esteem we deserve?
We need a shift in our actions – that is HOW we eat and HOW we move – and in order for that to happen we need a shift in our mind set.
We cannot produce a different result from the same action, do you follow. The same eating and moving and thinking even that created an overweight body in the first place that then perpetuates it and causes the merry go-round yo-yo pattern will NOT be able to free you.
To repeat – we need a shift in our actions – that is HOW we eat and HOW we move and in order for that to happen, clearly we need a shift in our mind set.
