There are 3 main reasons :
The short version:
I Coach people on how to make more Money. Having personally been financially broke and worth nothing – to being a self-made Millionaire today, I believe I am in a position to be able to help people in the Financial context.
I help individuals in the Financial area of their Life to earn more money / those that have little and want more. ( I do not offer financial investment coaching for those that have ‘some’ money to invest )
I offer a No Change – No Pay basis for my 1-2-1 service. Meaning, you only pay if I deliver the change you are seeking, in other words, if I do not deliver the change – you don’t pay. Period.
Any payment taken for my Life Coaching services goes directly to a Registered Charity of my choice, I do not receive any payment for my Coaching services.
Now the longer version if you wish to know more :
Can I really help people who come to see me about their Emotional problems or Relationship problems as examples if, I discover that these problems stem from a lack of financial control in their Life in the first instance?
Yes I can help them with their Emotional problem such as they are unhappy in general or feel unfulfilled in Life etc…or I can help them with their Relationship problem such as they are arguing too often with their partners and they can’t work out why etc…but if the problem is deeper than that no turns up.
However in the past I noticed that often / too often / the same individuals would then come back to see me for more of the same or similar help which quite honestly led me to initially question my competence in the early days.
As time went by and the pattern repeated itself with different clientele and in similar circumstances I began to unravel the situation which eventually led me to the conclusion that the problems were deeper than presented in the beginning even after investigation.
Which is that in a lot of cases / not all no but a lot yes / these and similar problems are just an effect and not a cause, that the cause is deeper and directly attributed to financial pressure / lack / stress.
I wish this was not true, I wish I could say something different BUT unfortunately I am a realist as well as an optimist, and this is how the REAL world is for a lot of people.
If you don’t believe this then just look at your own Life and see if there is any validity to my statement, I think you may find a lack of the financial resource – money – is a thread / feature to parts of your life at least. I have found that even those that do have sufficient / abundant financial resources still fall in to the trap of enduring stress and pressure as their expectations are not met.
Around 95% of the UK population of 65 million, are either struggling in this area or are at least not happy and desire more money in their life. Even though we live in the modern world with abundance all around us, the masses still live in scarcity and in lack.
So if that means around 60 million people have an area of their life that they are unhappy about – WHY – does the Life Coaching profession, not address it? Money is an area of life, a BIG area – that does not fall under the traditional main stream Life Coaching mandate but in my opinion this is wrong.
There are various answers of course why this is, I think one answer is that most Coaches are not financially wealthy and as such they would rather not go there so to speak so they don’t offer it as a service.
Trying to teach something to someone else does not work if the teacher is also the learner!
If I may, I would also like to point out that even a large portion of the traditional financial advisors on the high street are also not financially secure in their own life. I wish no one no disrespect here whether that be coaches or advisors, I am merely trying to point out that if someone wants to learn or be taught by another person about a particular skill or topic – than the teacher ought to be competent / successful in that topic – themselves.
This was my understanding and philosophy for all of my Life Coaching many years back when I started out, so I personally didn’t engage in the Financial Coaching context until 2009, until I myself had mastered this area.
If you are interested in being Coached on how to create financial Security and Freedom for yourself and your loved ones, than the high street advisor is an option, self-education is also another. For me, I decided to make it part of my range of services to the public early on so that meant since I didn’t have much of this resource, I had to actually go out – and create my Financial abundance from absolute scratch!
Financial difficulties in Life manifests itself in different ways, one of which is suppression, meaning pretending the problem is not there – yet – like a bubble trapped in a tube, it will eventually pop to the surface.
In the real world it will pop to the surface and lead to arguments with loved ones, a short temper with people, lack of drive and enthusiasm, the need for distraction, feeling tense and slightly agitated for no apparent reason, withdrawal from society and people etc…
To reiterate in closing: I help individuals in the Financial area of their Life to generate more money / income in their Life, those that have little and want more by showing them effective, proven, reliable yet fruitful strategy’s that I myself, have done…and that work!
( I do not offer financial investment coaching for those that have ‘some’ money to invest )
Why should you pay for something – that is NOT what you requested?!
If a Gardner came to your home to cut the grass upon your request, and he or she turned around after 1 hour and said “I cut all your flower beds instead, but here’s my charge of £100” would you be happy with that? I wouldn’t.
If you went to a restaurant and ordered salmon fillet with new potatoes and side, but they brought out egg & chips – would you accept it!
If you brought an item of clothing from a store for £180 and upon getting it home you find there is a tear in the garment, would you just say ‘oh it doesn’t matter’ or would you take it back and expect a full refund or replacement?
So why should any Coaching service be any different!
I do not believe someone should pay me for trying to help them. I believe that would be akin to a con in some way. Try is code for if failure occurs you still pay!! That astonishes me – that people accept this as a standard. In some industries it is like this including Life Coaching. Not for me personally and I do not adhere to it professionally either. Just my point of view.
I do not pay my accountant to only ‘try’ to deliver my accounts to the taxman on time, I pay them to objectively deliver my accounts to the taxman on time. If they were to fail, then I would have to pay a late filing fee so it is not an option to just ‘try’.
Even as early on as 1997 my personal philosophy was to offer as a Personal Trainer at that time, an option where I only get paid IF I deliver the desired result. People loved this initially and agreed because they thought they may get a ‘free ride’ out of the situation.
In almost all cases, in the second instance they had to pay me a larger than otherwise buck as I had been able to produce the result, this obviously upset them! But the point I’m making is that I have always operated on this frame and likely always will.
Not everyone in Coaching does, in fact very few will because, this only works if your competent. Presented Confidence without the provable competence to show is how a lot of people operate in a lot of industries. Life Coaching included. Be sure to hire a Coach that has real life experience, plenty of it and can prove it with Success in their own Life.
I have operated on a Successful outcome only oriented service as an option for some time. My clients have only paid if I deliver. So the onus and pressure is on me to make change happen.
No change – no pay. Since I take all the pressure and only get paid ( money goes to the Charity remember, anytime I say I, I am meaning it goes direct to a registered Charity ) if I deliver, my fees are higher than average, but that is the trade off with the unique service I provide.
Currently – I do not take any payment for any of my Life Coaching services or events. I have it all paid directly to a Charity of my choosing ( I say currently because bureaucratic legislation means I may be forced not to help the Charity’s out! )
The Charity I mostly choose is S.O.U.P which is an acronym for Sincere Offerings for Unappreciated Persons.
Why do I do this? How can I do this? There is an entire page on this, please read the Registered Charity page to see more on why I donate all fees in their entirety.
To a Better Quality of Life …
